Being a freelancer comes with many advantages, but if there’s one thing that gives every freelancer a headache, it’s having to do your accounts. Doing your accounts as a freelancer can be complicated, especially if you have a mixture of employment types. Traditional freelancing is a form of self-employment, as is employment through a platform like Freelancer or Upwork, but some freelancers may also have full or part-time jobs alongside their freelance work. On top of that, if you’re using a platform from outside the country where that platform is based (usually the US), this can add lengthy and extra complications to the process. All this to say that things can get pretty complicated at times and hiring a little extra help can often be a strong temptation. That’s why, in recent years, there’s been a real rise in the popularity of accountants for freelancers.
Yes, that’s right, if you’re down in the doldrums scratching your head over how to get your accounts to add up then the solution is at hand. Accountants for freelancers are an insanely valuable service that many freelancers are now taking advantage of to save them endless hours of difficulty.
Hiring an accountant might seem like a large step, but once your business reaches a certain point, it’s a sensible and responsible decision. How big? Well, that’s hard to say, but as a rule of thumb, if you’re having to spend more time working out your taxes than it’d take you to earn enough money to pay an accountant, then you should probably hire an accountant.
